Business verification (KYB)

Verify a company and its associated people. A temporary hold is placed, and the final charge follows the checks that complete.

This is a suggested setup. There is no ready-made UMNIII template for it: you build it in UMNIII Verify and can save it as your own template.

Who it is for: Businesses onboarding other businesses: suppliers, corporate clients, partners and corporate buyers or tenants.

Scenario: You need a company checked against registry records, with its associated people, rather than only described by whoever fills in your form.

The problem

Company onboarding often relies on a PDF certificate and an emailed list of directors, with ownership pieced together from whatever the company sends.

What can happen

  • A company is onboarded on documents nobody compared with a register.
  • Who really owns or controls the company remains unclear.
  • Different colleagues check different things for different companies.

A better process

Send the company’s representative one link. Business verification checks the company against registry records where they are available and checks its associated people; your own form and document request can sit beside it in the same request.

How UMNIII Verify helps

UMNIII Verify runs the company check and keeps its result with any forms and documents you add, in one request and one evidence record.

Which Verify features help?

Business verification (KYB)
The company check itself: registry lookup, company documents and its officers and beneficial owners.
Establishes: A company check: a registry lookup where records are available, company documents, and checks on the company’s associated people, its officers and beneficial owners.
Does not establish: It is not a credit check, and it does not decide whether to do business with the company.
Custom information forms
Information the register may not hold: trading activity, contacts, the relationship you are entering.
Establishes: A structured record of what the recipient told you, filed against the request.
Does not establish: An answer is not independently verified because it was collected through Verify. It is what the recipient said.
Document requests and uploads
Company documents your own process asks for.
Establishes: That the recipient uploaded these files against this request, and when.
Does not establish: An upload does not establish that a document is genuine, valid, current or the recipient’s own.

Optional, added separately

  • Custom information forms: When you need information beyond the registry.
  • Document requests and uploads: When your process asks for its own company documents.

How business verification is charged

  • Business verification is not a fixed-price check. It starts at the starting price shown in UMNIII Verify.
  • A temporary hold is placed when the request is sent.
  • The final charge depends on the company and associated-person checks that actually complete.
  • Unused held credits are returned to your available balance.
  • If the completed checks come to more than the hold, the additional credits are deducted. A negative balance must be topped up before further paid work.

Information that may be collected

  • The company the representative identifies
  • What your own form asks, if you add one

Documents that may be requested

  • Company documents the check or your process asks for

Countries and coverage

  • What a company register holds, and how much of it is available, varies by country. The result shows what was actually retrieved.
  • UBO stands for ultimate beneficial owner: the natural person who ultimately owns or controls the company, even where the shares are held through other companies.

What Verify does not do here

  • Business verification is not a fixed price: it is held when sent, then charged from the checks that complete.
  • It is not a credit check, and it does not decide whether to do business with the company.

How to create or adapt the workflow

  1. In UMNIII Verify, open the Dashboard. The request composer is headed “Send verification invite”. Leave “Start from a template” on “Compose from scratch”.
  2. Tick “Business verification” under the additional checks. The composer shows the starting price and the temporary hold before you send.
  3. Add a form or a document request if your process needs information beyond the registry.
  4. Enter the recipient in “Invitee Email”, choose how long the link lasts in “Link expires after” and, where offered, whether to “Send reminders”. Then press “Send verification invite”.

Save and reuse it as a template

  • Once the composition is right, an owner, admin or member of the Workspace presses “Save as template”, gives it a name and, optionally, a description.
  • From then on it appears in “Start from a template” beside the UMNIII templates. Choosing it fills in the request, every part stays editable for that one request, and choosing a template sends nothing on its own.
  • To adapt a UMNIII template, choose it and press “Copy to this Workspace”. The copy is yours to change; the original is unchanged.
  • A saved template is not edited in place. To change one, apply it, adjust the composition and save it again under a new name.
  • Your Workspace’s own and copied templates are listed under Other / General in the credit calculator inside UMNIII Verify.
